week 4 in Durham

Another awesome week here in Durham North Carolina! The weather here has been super nice this week with the exception of one day. On Tuesday it was dumping buckets on us and that was the last day of bike week, but it made for a good time.
On Wednesday I went on my first exchange with Elder Peine. He was my companion Elder Cooks Trainer. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot from him. I feel comfortable talking to anyone now, and its actually a lot of fun. You never know how someone will react. It's been a great time and I can honestly say there hasn't been one bad day here in North Carolina. Everyday is another opportunity to share the greatest message on the face of this planet. Elder Peine took me to a place called "wimpys" for lunch. It was on man vs. Food and they have a famous burger called the garbage burger. It was pretty good stuff. While I was with him he showed me a pretty cool way to do a door approach that I hadn't seen yet.
We've been trying to get up with a lady named Naomi that the missionaries used to teach since I've been here. Me and Elder Cook finally got up with her the other day!! We did some service in her front yard while it was raining and then we went on her porch and retaught her the restoration. She basically said that she is ready and willing to be baptized, she just has to stop smoking. So we are going to keep working with her and helping her with that.
We also have been doing practice teaching with part member families, which has been a lot of fun. One of the brethren who is not a member could be hes just stubborn so we've been working hard on him.
Kristen (lady with the twin babies we've been teaching) hasn't been around this week so we haven't had any lessons with her. She said she was going to watch general conference though and she told us she's been receiving answers to her prayers. So we will be able to meet up with her in the next couple days so that's exciting.
On Saturday we played Elders quorum basketball in the morning and I turned into Jimmer. I was dropping them on everybody. It was a lot of fun.
Then of course the best part of the week was General Conference!! So many great messages! A few of the things that really were repeated to me is lifting those around us with Love. Love is an attribute of the savior and it's also the greatest commandment. Several of the speakers quoted the prophet and said that in the coming days it would be impossible to survive without the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. Its important that we are feasting on the words of Christ, repenting, and striving to have the Holy Ghost with us because it will be essential. The prophet said it himself.... time is running out and now is the time to repent. Being able to repent through the atonement of Jesus Christ is such a blessing, and it brings nothing but pure joy.
On the Sunday afternoon session one of our people we are teaching, Terry, came to Brother Cummings house and watched general conference!! Brother Cummings fed us fried chicken and grape koolaid hahaha, good stuff.
This is the Lords work and it's been awesome to see his hand in it every single day. It's important that we trust in the Lords timing, Mosiah 4 :9
9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
We may not understand the way the Lord works but it's important to understand that he does, and he will, in his own time.
We got some golf clubs from a member because Elder Cook is big into golfing, so we are going to go to the driving range for an hour today before we go shopping and then go play basketball!!!
Sorry for the long letter, I'll cut it off here! I could keep going all day especially on such an awesome week as this where we get to here from the true living Prophet of God here on the Earth. I know that he truly does receive revelation, and he truly is the prophet of God. I know this church is true. I know this is Jesus Christ's restored Gospel here on the Earth. The Book of Mormon truly testifies of the savior.
I love you all, thank you for your support and for the blessing you are in my life! Hope you all have a great week!
