It's been another great week here in Jacksonville! Man this place is fun, the members here are awesome. We had a great week out here me and Elder Smith have been working hard.
We've been doing quite a bit of service this week, we worked at a soup kitchen and fed homeless people. We also helped someone in the ward build a shop to work on his motorcycles. Super cool guy with some sweet toys.
We moved this tuesday into super nice apartment! It's got a full gym right outside our back door and a built in propane barbecue. We've been having a good time lifting weights every morning for exercise time.
The work this week has been great we've been seeing some great progress and have been working with the members. We have been putting a big emphasis on testifying contacts and especially doing so with the Book of Mormon as instructed. Man has it been awesome! We were able to find 4 new people to teach this week. We've really been putting a big emphasis on the Book of Mormon. One thing that I've noticed is that when people aren't progressing or when members become inactive, it often times is because they haven't been reading from the Book of Mormon and they prioritize other things in their lives. Preach my Gospel says that The Book of Mormon, combined with the Spirit, is the most powerful tool in conversion. I also recall Elder Holland putting a big emphasis on this, and we went over this at first transfer training. I have really seen the truth of this, especially this week.
I have also been putting an emphasis on testifying. I was struck in my studies this week when I read in Alma 4:19. Alma said that he could see no way to reclaim his people save it were in bearing down in pure testimony against them. As I continued to read the chapters following as Alma goes throughout the land I noticed that he testifies that what he has taught is true, he testifies of Jesus Christ, he tells how he knows what he taught is true, and then he invites the people to repent. He goes on to see great success in doing so. Not everyone listens but many do and many come unto Christ. Preach My Gospel Chapter 11 talks of a lot of these same principles that Alma applied. Preach my Gospel really is inspired and testifying of the Book of Mormon and of Jesus Christ through the Spirit really can work wonders and help us to achieve our goals and help people come unto Christ.
Love you guys! Hope you had a great week.
