Jackonsville transfer week

Well the transfer is just about over here in Jacksonville. Elder Smith will be leaving tomorrow. It's been a great transfer with Elder Smith, we've had a lot of great experiences.

This week was awesome! We taught Carolyn and LaiLai every single day this week. They are getting baptized this Saturday the 31st!! We are so excited for them, we're going to have a busy week though getting everything figured out for Saturday!

We had some crazy things happen this week to us! On tuesday night Elder Smith and I burned a Tie for our 6th month mark. Elder Turner and Elder Snarr were there too. Well some drunk girl showed up and started trying to give all of us a hug. Of course we all rejected her, but it was kind of sad. She said, " I guess I must be ugly in the eyes of the Lord"

We also were out tracting one day and when a lady opened the door her 2 dogs bolted and just took off down the street and she started freaking out. So we had to chase her German Shepard's down and pin them down until she finally came with some leashes. Then, later that same night we were at some members and their massive dog wouldn't get his nose out of my junk. Tried pushing him away for like 15 minutes, but that guy was relentless. Wrestled him away the whole time while we were trying to teach them and the members didn't tell him to stop or anything. Pretty crazy stuff

We also dropped by to teach some guy named Ronnie and when we knocked on the door, he said, "Come in!" So we opened the door and Ronnie is just strung out on the couch butt naked smoking Marijuana. He thought we were someone else and he told us to get out, and we gladly left. I could go on and on about all the crazy things that happened this week, the list never ends...

On a more spiritual note I was on exchange with Elder Snarr on Tuesday and we went to teach Carolyn and LaiLai. After we said an opening prayer Elder Snarr got the impression to ask If there was anyone else in the home that would like to hear the message. Carolyn then told us that her grandson had told her that morning that he wanted to hear the message that we share. He came out and he participated in the lesson, so cool!

We spent a lot of time this week working with members. We are trying to put a big emphasis on the Raleigh temple open house, and getting members to invite their friends to come and walk through the temple. It's such a simple and powerful missionary opportunity.

This week I have still been studying in Alma. I also studied "Diligence" this week. In Alma chapter 30 korihor the Anti-Christ goes around preaching against God and many decide to follow him. As I read this chapter I was still reflecting on Diligence and I remembered a scripture....

D&C 58:26-28
26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.

We should be anxiously engaged in a good cause. These are those who could not be led away by Korihor or the cunning craftiness of the devil. I also see how we must use our Agency properly. Korihor, was very diligent, but he was diligent in the wrong cause. God has granted us with this gift to choose, and we must choose. But we can only choose one way. We either have to follow God, or, follow the Devil. Following God leads to unnumberal blessings, while following the devil leads to eternal misery.

This is why we have to set goals, work towards them, stay anxiously engaged in a good cause, and be diligent in following the Lord rather then being enticed by the world.

We are promised that if we do this we will not lose our reward.... and the reward is great!

Love you all, have a great week!
