Dorian did us dirty

Last Monday they evacuated us from the coast up to the Virginia border because Hurricane Dorian was supposed to come through. We had a pretty good week up there. We were with the other Jacksonville Elders staying in an apartment.

When we first got up there the a/c was broken and then the power went out, and we didn't have any money to buy food. But we called the relief society president and before you knew it we had more food then we could handle! Also our homie Juan came and fixed the power and the air conditioner. Not a whole lot of success out there in Henderson but we got some good practice contacting for Elder Palmer.

While we were out there in Henderson we walked a bunch of crazy dogs at an animal shelter. We also met a member who has more rifles than he has room for!

We made it back to Jacksonville Saturday night. It's great to be back in the area. We had a lesson with Joe and Samantha last night. They are Catholic and they were a little offended about 1 Nephi 13 talking about the great and abominable church haha! But we were able to resolve some of their concerns. Elder Palmer shut them down by saying, " we can sit here and throw scripture all day but the only way you are going to find out for yourself is if you ask God"

Elder Palmer is a great missionary, I'm glad to be serving with him. He's also the only companion I've had so far that will wheelie his pedal bike with me! We've been having some good times!

Something that stood out to me in my studies this week was in Alma 43...

The army of Moroni was being attacked by the Lamanites and they started to lose. They were afraid and they thought they were going to lose. Moroni gave them courage and they all cried out to the Lord

50 And they began to stand against the Lamanites with power; and in that selfsame hour that they cried unto the Lord for their freedom, the Lamanites began to flee before them; and they fled even to the waters of Sidon.
The Lord delivered them. Even when we are afraid and we think the road ahead is impossible, it's not. The Lord is always there to deliver us. We just have to cry out and have faith that he can deliver us.

Love you all,
Elder Forrest
