It's been another great week here in Jacksonville North Carolina! We got the news that Elder Palmer is leaving and I'm staying here in Jville. Sad to see him go, but I'm glad to stay here.
This week it got super cold and it was raining all week. We were on the bikes and I ended up getting a pretty bad cold.... and then my bike tire went flat. But we pushed through it and we found 4 new people to teach.
One of them is Selina Hernandez, she is awesome!!! She wants to be baptized, so hopefully in 3 weeks.
We also met a guy named Carl and as we spoke to him he said he knew the Book of Mormon was true. We invited him to be baptized and he said he would think about it, so we will see where that goes.
We met a girl named Dawn the other day. We were knocking doors at 830 pm, which is usually a horrible time to knock, but Dawn opened the door. Her friend was over who is actually a member of the church from Las Vegas.... what are the odds! We started to talk to them and then we testified, Dawn was super interested and we are going back tonight!
We were also led to a part member family. We knocked on a door and met Milalee, and her husband peter. Milalee is a member but hasnt gone to church in a while. Peter is Christian and he wants to learn more!
It's awesome to see how even when we're sick, have no transportation, and the weather is horrible, the Lord can still provide a way for his work to be done, and lead us to those that are willing to listen.
This week I was reading in Alma chapter 11:
40 And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else
Believing means doing. We show our belief in Jesus Christ by taking up our cross and following him.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
To "take up our cross" and follow Jesus, we have to righteously use our agency to put off the natural man and the cares of the world, and align our will with Gods. All he asks is that we keep his commandments.
One road leads to everlasting happiness and Eternal life, while the other leads to everlasting misery and eternal damnation.
Which road will you take?
