Welcome to Raleigh

It's been a good week here in Raleigh! I'm stoked to be here, Raleigh is a cool place. My new companion is Elder Fonnesbeck, he is actually from Vegas but his family moved to Arizona. He's a cool guy we've been getting along really good.

One of the best parts about moving to Raleigh is Tiffany. She's our mini van and she knows how to get the job done. Just flip her into extra power mode and we making it on time everywhere.

We are teaching a guy named Joseph Smith! Pretty crazy stuff. He's actually praying about baptism this week so we are praying that he gets an answer. We are also teaching a lady named Alma, who knows maybe next week we'll find Moroni.

We were out looking for a guy named Jamar the other day and we ran into him walking on the sidewalk. We actually started teaching him, pretty crazy how the Lord can place you in the right place at the right time.

The other day we went and built houses with habitat for humanity. It was raining outside so we got super muddy but it was a lot of fun. I talked to a guy named Brandon there and invited him to come ball with us on Monday so hopefully he shows up. Everyone in our zone plays ball so it's going to be some good ball today.

I got to go on an exchange with Elder Helquist this week. He's one of the Assistants. Wow, what a great missionary. He is so good at talking with everyone, and everyone listens to him. It was pretty cool to be able to learn some things from him.

In the introduction to the Book of Mormon Joseph smith is quoted saying,

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”

Truth is what builds our faith in Christ, and brings us closer to God. But in order for that truth to have that effect on us we first have to know if its truth. That is why we have to ask. The introduction goes on to say...

We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.)
Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.

I know these things to be true. I echo the words of Joseph Smith because I know that the Book of Mormon is truth. I know that it has brought me closer to God and has built my faith in Jesus Christ.

I love yall

Elder Forrest
