Another great week here in Raleigh! We were able to have the confirmation of Joseph Smith yesterday. Elder Fonnesbeck confirmed him, Not everyone can say they confirmed Joseph Smith a member of the church.
Pretty typical week we did a bunch of service sorting through clothes and unloading furniture off a semi, and picking up a TON of trash.
We had MLC and Sister Nichols from the district came. She taught us a new way of teaching where we basically teach by the spirit and we have no idea what we are going to teach before we go to the appointment. Pretty crazy but we've been doing it the last few days and we have had some super good lessons.
A guy we are teaching, Jamar, has been doing awesome. We've been teaching him a couple times a week and he came to our gospel principles class and he came to church on Sunday! Pretty stoked about Jamar he's a pretty good dude.
The craziest thing that happened this week was with Terrell. We went to visit a guy named Vernon Vernon who is on the ward roster. We were honestly kinda doing It as a joke just because his name is Vernon Vernon. But we got there and it was a bunk address but we felt like we should go knock on a door right by where we were parked. Terrell opened the door and proceeded to tell us he was reading the bible when we came, he is trying to get his life in order, and he knows that we were sent from God to help him, and this is a sign from God he should listen to us. Pretty crazy. It's amazing how the Lord can lead a couple of knuckleheads without them even knowing it.
I was reading in 1 Nephi 19 this morning and it says....
7 For the things which some men esteem to be of great worth, both to the body and soul, others set at naught and trample under their feet
Some people trample under their feet the Savior and his teachings, while others trample under their feet the Adversary and things of the world.
11 For thus spake the prophet: The Lord God surely shall visit all the house of Israel at that day, some with his voice, because of their righteousness, unto their great joy and salvation, and others with the thunderings and the lightnings of his power, by tempest, by fire, and by smoke, and vapor of darkness, and by the opening of the earth, and by mountains which shall be carried up.
But ultimately we choose which course we will take, but we will suffer the consequences of which ever path we take. We can be anxiously engaged in the things of the Lord, or the things of the world.
I know the only way to find true joy and peace in this world is by living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
