It has been another awesome week out here in Raleigh North Carolina! We had a great week and put Shannon on date to he baptized on March 14th! She came to our Gospel Principles class, and church as well. We are pretty excited for her.
We were hoping to set some other baptismal dates this week but everyone else went out of town. Hopefully this week we will be able to set a dare wi th h Shaun.
We had MLC this week and President gave an awesome training on a new way to teach from the Book of Mormon. We also talked about our goal for March for the mission to baptize more people than ever before. President Holland has called it spiritual March Madness, should be a good time
We were out knocking some doors this week and the first 7 doors nobody even opened the door. Then we knocked on David's door and he told us to come inside! We were able to teach him. He told us he worked at a warehouse, and one day this week we showed up at the warehouse and asked to volunteer. Pretty fun, David seems like he's got some good potential
At the end of MLC the other day President Holland showed a video of President Nelson, and he asked talking about Jesus Christ, "How do you hear him?"
I was kind of reflecting on how I hear the Lord and what I can do to better hear the voice of the Lord.
I was reading in 3 Nephi 11
3 And it came to pass that while they were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven; and they cast their eyes round about, for they understood not the voice which they heard; and it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.
4 And it came to pass that again they heard the voice, and they understood it not.
5 And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.
6 And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them:
7 Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.
The Nephites did not understand the Voice of the Lord until the third time he spoke. They had to eliminate distractions and fully focus on what the Lord was saying.
Today we live in a world of Distraction, and it is easy to lose focus of what truly matters. As we lay aside the things that distract us we can hear the voice of the Lord, and recieve the guidance that he stands ready to give.
