It's been another great week out here in Raleigh! We had a pretty productive week, we have been able to have a couple lessons erry day through technology which has been great.
We found a new person Adria, who said she wants to join our church.... we told her we can help her out with that
Last Monday night I layed my head on my pillow to go to bed and I thought I heard something kinda funny and something just didn't feel right. So I rolled off my bed and pulled the blanket off the window behind my head. I looked outside and some little punk was out there busting up our porch. I started punching the wall and yelling, "HEY! HEY!" both of my companions were freaking out because they had no idea what was going on. I wasn't dressed but Elder Lignell ran outside and caught the kid and we had a nice long talk with him......
We thought that would be the end of our apartment being vandalized, and then 2 nights ago our porch got torn down again. These punks are really testing my Christlike attributes, I guess that's how it is when your the white missionaries living in the hood
Pretty stoked we are having a mission zoom call with Elder Bednar tomorrow, I'm sure he will have plenty of knowledge to pour out upon us
The highlight of the week was our zoom call with President Holland. President rarely ever messes around, but he started the mission call out by teaching the mission how to make "perfecto dippy eggs". I don't think anyone was expecting that but it was pretty funny
This week in Mosiah chapter 6 I read that...
".....king Mosiah did walk in the ways of the Lord, and did observe his judgments and his statutes, and did keep his commandments in all things whatsoever he commanded him."
To walk in the ways of the Lord is an expression of great Faith. Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians 5 that "we are absent from the Lord" "For we walk by Faith not by sight"
We are not currently in the presence of the Lord, we cannot see him. It takes Faith to follow the commandments he gives us. This Faith comes through being converted
2 Corinthians 5: 14-15, 17
Those who follow Christ no longer "live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." They become "a new creature"
The Gospel changes you, it changes your heart, it changes the way you act, the way you live, everything.
I will leave you with one last scripture from Alma in Alma 5:
26 And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?
Can you feel this change of heart? Do you still "walk in the ways of the Lord"? What needs to change in your life?
If you can no longer feel this change of heart or if you have never felt it at all I invite you to "do better and be better". I know that greater joy and purpose will come into your life as you do so.
Reading this talk from our beloved prophet would be a good place to start:
Love Y'all, Don't forget who you are and why you're here
