Another week in Raleigh NC! It was a pretty good week we have been able to teach quite a few lessons online, we had like 5 lessons yesterday!
President Holland told us that we are getting 60 new missionaries next week so that is pretty crazy! And we are supposed to keep getting more all the way up into September, pretty wild!
We were able to go on some hikes and stuff this week so that is always fun, Me and Elder Wolfley made some sand castles on Raleigh beach the other day.
The highlight of the week was Elder Bednar doing a zoom call with the mission. The spirit was so strong and he taught us a lot.
Someone asked him if the Apostles prayed differently then we do. He said We would be surprised that the words that are said are probably the same as the words we say. The words aren't what matter but it's the sincerity behind it is what matters. That reminded me of Brigham Youngs conversion story:
He says, “If all the talent, tact, wisdom, and refinement of the world had been sent to me with the Book of Mormon, and had declared, in the most exalted of earthly eloquence, the truth of it, undertaking to prove it by learning and worldly wisdom, they would have been to me like smoke which arises only to vanish away. But when I saw a man without eloquence or talents for public speaking, who could only say, ‘I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of the Lord,’ the Holy Ghost proceeding from that individual illuminated my understanding, and a light, glory, and immortality were before me. I was encircled by them, filled with them, and I knew for myself that the testimony of the man was true” (in Journal of Discourses, 1:90).
A sincere simple testimony or prayer that comes from the heart is far more powerful than the words that are used. That is because the Holy Ghost testifies of truth, and truth is simple. I know that the Lord will do his work through those who are humble and sincere.
Love yall
Elder Forrest
