It's been another good week out here in Raleigh NC! We were able to stay busy all week and talk to quite a few people. We had some lessons set up last night that all kinda fell through, but hey sometimes that's how it goes.
We have been calling lots of people who were taught in the past and offering to do bible study with them and we have gotten some pretty good response from that.... people in the south love the Bible!
We were walking the other day and a copper head slithered right in front of us. I got a rock and threw it at him and got him right in the head, pretty proud moment. I barely even noticed the snake before it was too late, almost walked right on top of him
It's the same way with Satan. He is a master of deception and we might not even notice him slithering in before it is too late. Even Jesus Christ was tempted by Satan, but Christ, our perfect example did not yield to the temptation.
In Matthew 4 we read of some of these experiences:
"IF thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."
"IF thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."
"All these things will I give thee, IF thou wilt fall down and worship me."
3 different attempts by Satan to get the Savior to yield to temptation, in the second one he even uses scripture "for it is written" to try to tempt Christ.
Christ did not yield to the temptation but rather said, "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve"
The Savior was victorious.
Today Satan uses many of the same tactics to try to get us to slip up....
"You dont need to keep the commandments to be happy, if you skip church it will be fun, come on..."
The adversary tries to make a mock of the covenants you have made with God and will do anything to make you break those covenants, because he knows that making and keeping covenants brings joy..... and he wants you to be miserable just like him.
He may slither in and we may not notice before it is almost too late, but we have been given the power to crush his head just like the snake on the trail.
I know that happiness comes through following the Savior Jesus Christ and his example, by making and keeping our covenants.
Love yall
